Thank you so much for your questions. To add the Adsense code manually you need to add the Adsense code on the theme files. Are you able to add the code on the header.phpfile. Or please read this blog post, which may help you for that. Or please find the better way on the forum as well.
Note: Child Theme is recommended to customize theme.
